China Carbon Watch: Prices Plumb Multi-Month Lows

Trading in China’s national carbon emissions allowance (CEA) market totaled 1.05 million tons in April, down nearly 20% from March.

Block trades dominated the market, accounting for 95% of April’s total volume.

There was no significant policy news during the month. While the formal passage of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on April 25 got a lot of attention, it did not spark any notable activity in China’s CEA market.
