Editorial: For High-Quality Population Development, Quality Trumps Quantity

The U.N. projected earlier this year that India’s population would surpassed China’s in April, making India the most populous country in the world.

The first meeting of the 20th Central Finance and Economic Affairs Committee recently proposed high-quality population development to support Chinese-style modernization. At the meeting, it was pointed out that it is necessary to take a systematic approach to population planning, promote the concept of “high-quality population development” through reform and innovation, and connect the concept with a high-quality way of life for the people, and promote the comprehensive development of the people and common prosperity.
