China’s newly appointed ambassador to Washington Xie Feng arrived in the U.S. Tuesday afternoon, with an aim to boost communication amid heightened tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Xie, a seasoned diplomat and former vice foreign minister, urged Washington to work with Beijing in promoting cooperation and managing differences, “so as to bring China-U.S. relations back to the right track,” according to a statement from the Chinese Embassy in the U.S.
