(Nikkei Asia) — The Japanese government officially announced on Tuesday that it will add 23 items, including advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, to its list of regulated exports.
The move follows similar restrictions by the U.S. and is expected to take effect on July 23 after a two-month public awareness period.
Under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, Japan regulates the export of weapons and other goods that can be converted to military applications. Such exports require prior approval from the minister of economy, trade and industry.
