Law Enforcement Personnel in Southwest China Detained for Assaulting Journalist

What’s new: A police official and two auxiliary officers in southwestern China have been placed under administrative detention for up to 20 days and received other penalties for assaulting a journalist investigating the deaths of two local teachers, authorities said Thursday.
According to the statement released by the government of Bijie, Guizhou province, an investigation determined that a deputy chief of a local police station surnamed Xiong and two auxiliary officers surnamed Li and Tao, both from the same station, were involved in a physical altercation with the journalist Tuesday.
