China called on the U.S. to lift tariffs and export controls imposed on the country and end the suppression of Chinese enterprises, during meetings between senior officials and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in Beijing last week.

The economic sanctions from Washington in recent years have “undermined the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese market players and damaged the public support for the bilateral relations,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement published Monday, where it urged the U.S. to take action to address China’s “major concerns” over the punitive measures.
