China’s Kweichow Moutai Reports 21% Jump in First-Half Profits

(Bloomberg) — Chinese liquor maker Kweichow Moutai Co. reported that net income surged 21% in the first half of the year, results that may help extend a rally in the nation’s consumer stocks.
Moutai reported net income of 35.98 billion yuan ($5.01 billion) from January to June, according to a filing Wednesday with the stock exchange in Shanghai. That compared with 29.8 billion yuan in the like period a year ago.
