Torrential rains lashed Beijing and regions of North China over the past week, causing severe flooding that has killed at least 22 people and forced the relocation of some 1.5 million across the capital, and neighboring Tianjin and Hebei province.

The downpours caused widespread disruption to transportation and communications, leaving thousands of residents stranded without power, water or food. Rescue forces have come from across the country to support local relocation and clean-up efforts.
