“Barbie,” a plastic doll originally depicting a blonde – and brunette - girl launched in 1959, quickly became one of the most famous children’s toys in the world, and a classic symbol of American culture.

Today, the movie “Barbie,” the first live-action film based on the doll, has swept the global box office, becoming the first film in North America this year to earn over $150 million on its opening weekend. It went on to easily break the $300 million mark globally in its first week.
