Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) (300750.SZ), China’s biggest electric-vehicle (EV) battery-maker, is planning to sue the intellectual property rights regulator to overturn its decision to invalidate two of its patents at the heart of a years-long legal tussle with a smaller rival.

CATL plans to file an administrative litigation suit against the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) after the regulator decided to invalidate the patents involved in an infringement lawsuit it lodged against CALB Group Co. Ltd., Shenzhen-listed CATL told Caixin on Saturday.
