Hong Kong and Macao Ban Some Japanese Food Imports

Hong Kong and Macao will impose import controls on certain foods from parts of Japan in response to the country’s plan to start releasing treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the sea, the Chinese special administrative regions said Tuesday.
Hong Kong will indefinitely ban Japanese seafood imports from 10 prefectures starting Thursday. Macao’s import ban is broader and also includes vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs and dairy products.
