Terry Gou, founder of electronics manufacturer Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., officially announced his bid to run in the next Taiwanese leadership election scheduled for January 2024. The move adds Gou as a fourth contender in the already tense political race, challenging Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) Lai Ching-te, Kuomintang’s (KMT) Hou Yu-ih, and Taiwan People’s Party’s (TPP) Ko Wen-je.
