What’s new: Covid-19 and flu outbreaks will alternate every half a year in Hong Kong, with the next Covid peak likely to take place in November, a medical expert from the city said.
The Covid-19 epidemic has changed the influenza peak pattern in Hong Kong, delaying the city’s normal summer flu season from between mid-May and late-August to between August and October, according to Ivan Hung Fan-ngai, chief of the infectious diseases division at the University of Hong Kong’s department of medicine. The usual winter flu season will be delayed by around one month to between February and April, Hung forecast.
