The revision of the Public Security Administration Punishments Law has concluded its public consultation phase. Data from the official National People’s Congress (NPC) website reveals that over 99,000 individuals have provided online feedback, culminating in more than 126,000 suggestions. The consultation window, spanning from Sept. 1 to 30, saw over 70,000 suggestions in just eight days. Within less than half a month, nearly 100,000 individuals have made suggestions online, contributing to a total of 114,000 comments. The strong response prompted the Legal Affairs Committee of the NPC Standing Committee to say that the “public feedback on the draft law through formal channels exemplifies the active and orderly participation of the masses in national legislative work.” This sentiment has been reassuring for the public. Beyond the formal feedback, there is heightened interest and discussion at a broader level, underscoring the profound impact of this law revision on public rights and sentiments.
