China Removes Defense Minister Li Shangfu, State Broadcaster Says

What’s new: Li Shangfu, China’s defense minister, has been removed from his post, the state broadcaster CCTV reported Tuesday.
Li has also been ousted from the position of state councillor, a cabinet role that holds a higher seniority than a regular minister, said CCTV.
The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the country’s top legislative body, also voted to remove the former Foreign Minister Qin Gang from his position as a state councilor, according to CCTV.
