China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Washington this week, with the two sides appearing to come a step closer to realizing a meeting between their respective leaders next month.

“The two sides agreed to work together for the meeting between the two heads of state in San Francisco,” according to a readout of the meeting between Wang and Blinken published Saturday by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
