China and the United States have agreed to activate multiple mechanisms for dialogue and policy exchanges to improve cooperation in addressing the climate crisis, ahead of a highly anticipated leaders’ meeting in San Francisco to mend ties.

A joint plan titled Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis was released Tuesday as President Xi Jinping landed in San Francisco to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and hold his first face-to-face meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden in a year.
