China Appoints New Party Chief of Top Tax Authority

What’s new: China has named Hu Jinglin as the State Taxation Administration’s (STA) new Communist Party committee chief, succeeding Wang Jun, the authority announced on Tuesday.
The appointment puts Hu on track to also take over the position of STA administrator from Wang.
Hu, 59, remains the administrator of the National Healthcare Security Administration, a position he has held since 2018.
The background: Hu is a public finance specialist. He previously worked at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for 20 years, lastly as a vice minister from 2014 to 2018.
