China Carbon Watch: CEA Prices Hit Record Highs

Trading in China’s national carbon emissions allowance (CEA) market surged in September and October, driving up prices across open transactions and block trades to all-time highs.

The October volume, despite the five days off for the National Day holiday, set a new 2023 monthly high at 93 million tons — the second-highest ever, trailing only December 2021, the last month of the previous compliance cycle.
