A Green Belt and Road Will Help Poor Nations in Climate Adaptation, Expert Says

A global expert on the local impacts of climate change has called for a more efficient marketplace to make China’s green technologies affordable for poorer countries within the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which he said would be a “win-win-win” for Beijing in terms of international influence, economic power and contributions to sustainability.

“China is producing and consuming and exporting the key technologies to reduce emissions,” Parag Khanna said in an exclusive interview with Caixin. He referred to China’s multiple roles — the world’s largest renewable energy market, as well as the world’s largest producer and exporter of solar panels and electric vehicles.
