At least 30 people were injured when two carriages of a packed Beijing subway train broke away during Thursday evening’s rush hour.

Passengers in the carriages were thrown from their seats after a strong impact when the train stopped between stations, passengers told Caixin.

The incident happened at 6.57 p.m. in an overground section of the Changping Line running through the northwest outskirts of Beijing.
