China is backing its businesses in safeguarding their lawful rights and interests, the country’s foreign affairs ministry said after news that two more senior executives of Chinese smartphone maker Vivo were arrested in India as part of a money-laundering probe.

“We are closely following” the incident, Mao Ning, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said in a regular press briefing Monday. “The Chinese embassy and consulates in India will continue to provide consular protection and assistance to the individuals concerned in accordance with the law,” said Mao in response to a question.
