Hong Kong Mulls Licensing Regime for Stablecoin Issuance

Hong Kong’s financial regulators are considering new legislation to control stablecoin issuance in the latest effort to develop a regulatory framework to service the city’s ambition to develop a digital-asset hub.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) Wednesday jointly published a consultation paper to gather public views on a legislative proposal to regulate issuers of stablecoin.
