VW’s China Venture Launches Debut EV

Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Co. Ltd., a joint venture majority owned by Volkswagen AG, has kicked off production of its first electric-vehicle (EV).

The venture, formed by the German auto giant and state-owned Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp. Ltd. (JAC), is manufacturing an electric SUV, the Cupra Tavascan, for export to Europe, according to a statement Saturday by the government of Hefei, capital of Anhui province. The venture is also set to roll out a model for the Chinese market in 2024.
