(Bloomberg) — Plans to challenge the dominance of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. by the Hong Kong startup, Greater Bay Airlines Co. Ltd., have been thrown into disarray after delays in the delivery of Boeing Co. Max 9 jets following the panel blowout on an Alaska Airlines flight.

Greater Bay is midway through a year-long process to prove to Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department (CAD) that the Max 9 jet is airworthy.
