(Davos, Switzerland) — China faces economic headwinds as investment and consumption of some durable goods have grown slower, but the country retains significant strengths in areas such as technological innovation and the green transition, according to speakers at a luncheon hosted by Caixin during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The “economic long Covid” is estimated to continue to drag on China’s growth, Adam Posen, president of the U.S.-based Peterson Institute for International Economics, said at the Wednesday event in Davos, Switzerland.
