Iflytek releases first upgraded AI model trained entirely on homegrown chips

Iflytek Co. Ltd. (002230.SZ) announced on Tuesday the launch of its upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) model trained entirely on domestically produced microchips. The Chinese speech-recognition and AI developer trained its Spark 3.5 large language model exclusively with the Ascend line of chips produced by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. Iflytek said this version of the model can closely match — and in some areas surpass — the capabilities of OpenAI’s current top model, GPT-4 Turbo.
