China Looks to Better Protect Arable Land to Ensure Food Security

China has released a framework for refining the system for protecting the country’s arable land amid the ongoing endeavors to ensure national food security.

The State Council, China’s cabinet, and the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee called for local governments to ensure the implementation of a policy that balances the occupation and replenishment of arable land, and specified measures to regulate deviations from grain cultivation on such land, in a guidance issued earlier this month on deepening rural revitalization work.
