The wife of Chinese billionaire and Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma has reportedly acquired three buildings in downtown Singapore for as much as S$50 million ($37.3 million).

Zhang Ying, a Singapore citizen, bought the adjoining shophouses on Duxton Road, according to Singaporean media outlet The Business Times.

In Singapore, shophouses are typically mixed commercial and residential properties with storefront on the bottom floor and residential space on the higher floors.
