Guizhou provincial authorities have launched an investigation into an alleged dispute over debt in which a businesswoman reportedly sought to recover over 200 million yuan ($27.8 million) in unpaid fees from a local government, which subsequently detained her for “provoking trouble.”

In a direct response to the report, the Guizhou government said Wednesday it had set up a team led by provincial prosecutors to “comprehensively” investigate the case and “deal with it strictly according to the law.”
