The U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday passed a bill that could ban TikTok in the country, injecting greater threats to the short-video sensation’s operation in its biggest market.
The legislation would block TikTok from U.S. app stores such as Apple Inc.’s and Alphabet Inc.’s Google unless it is spun off from its Chinese parent ByteDance Ltd. within six months from the day the bill is enacted.
