What’s new: A self-flying vehicle developed by Chinese startup Autoflight is a step closer to taking to the skies, after clearing a major hurdle to earning its airworthiness certification.

Shanghai Autoflight Co. Ltd. has secured a type certificate from the East China regional branch of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for its V2000CG electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (eVTOL), the company said on social media Friday. The vehicle was designed for services such as freight delivery and emergency rescue at low altitudes.
