Fan Yifei, a former deputy governor of China’s central bank, has pleaded guilty to accepting more than 386 million yuan ($53.3 million) in bribes over a period of nearly three decades, a court said Thursday in a statement.

Fan, 59, appeared in court that day to face charges of taking bribes in exchange for helping companies and individuals with matters such as securing loans, jobs and business contracts, according to the statement from Huanggang Intermediate People’s Court in Hubei province. The acts of bribery took place from 1993 to 2022.
