U.S. lawmakers seek sanctions on Chinese carmakers for ‘aiding’ Russia
U.S. lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill Wednesday that would impose sanctions on Chinese automakers accused of providing material support to the Russian military. The bill, introduced by a group led by a top China hawk in the House who is also behind a proposed TikTok ban, calls for Internet-connected vehicles employing Chinese technology to be barred from entering U.S. military bases. The move builds on the Biden administration’s recent addition of six Chinese companies to an export blacklist for acquiring U.S.-made chips for China’s military.
