The lawsuit comes at a time when Cainiao is doubling down on global expansion amid rising competition with PDD-owned Temu and Shein.

A Zhejiang court has rejected an appeal by PDD Holdings Inc., ordering the e-commerce giant to compensate Alibaba’s logistics arm Cainiao Network Technology Co. Ltd. 5 million yuan ($689,830) for unfair competition, bringing an end to a legal spat between the companies which began in 2022.

Zhejiang High People’s Court on April 7 made a final verdict that Shanghai Xunmeng Information Technology Co. Ltd., the operator of e-commerce platform Pinduoduo, and two other firms linked to it engaged in actions that constituted unfair competition, according to a written judgment obtained by Caixin.
