The U.S. has imposed sanctions on some 20 Chinese companies among hundreds from other countries for their alleged involvement in supporting Russia’s war effort in Ukraine or the country’s defense and energy industries in general.

The companies from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong were among nearly 300 individuals and entities named by the U.S. due to their alleged involvement in areas linked to Russia including producing drone parts, gunpowder precursors, optical instruments, microelectronic components, and shipping, according to statements from the U.S. Treasury and State Departments on Wednesday.
