As President Xi Jinping pays a state visit to France, he said China hopes to strengthen both its economic and political relationship with the European nation.

After landing at Paris Orly Airport on Sunday afternoon, Xi said he hopes the visit will help “cement our long-standing friendship, enhance political trust, build strategic consensus and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields,” according to a statement released by the Chinese foreign ministry.
