(Nikkei Asia) — The Japanese government plans to push legislation supporting manufacturing of next-generation chips used in artificial intelligence and electric vehicles, according to a draft of its annual economic and fiscal policy plan obtained by Nikkei.
The document, due out in June, calls for the government to “consider the legal measures necessary” for mass production, likely with an eye toward domestic player Rapidus Corp., which aims to start turning out 2-nanometer semiconductors by 2027.
