Exports by Chinese manufacturers of “new three” green transition products continued to grow in March, despite mounting global trade tensions.
Overseas shipments of solar cells, electric vehicles (EVs) and lithium-ion batteries all increased last month, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.
Among them, solar cell exports saw the highest growth rate of 84.6% year-on-year, followed by passenger-carrying EVs at 32.1% and lithium-ion batteries at 25.1%.
However, the export value of these products varied. Lithium-ion battery exports surged 29.1% year-on-year to $5.8 billion in March, maintaining the growth momentum of the previous month, while passenger-carrying EV exports rose 3% to $4.2 billion in value, rebounding from a 4.3% drop in February. In contrast, the value of solar cell exports plunged 23.5% to $2.5 billion in March, following a 40.3% decline the month before.
