China’s air travel is poised to hit a record high during the upcoming Labor Day holiday, fueled by robust domestic and regional demand, even as airlines continue to grapple with falling ticket prices.
Travelers in China are expected to make about 10.75 million plane trips during the five-day holiday starting May 1, according to Shang Kejia, director of the transport department at the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) at a press briefing Sunday. That averages 2.15 million trips per day, up 8% from a year ago and marking a new record for the period, she said.
