Wang Weizhong, the governor of economic powerhouse Guangdong province, has been appointed Communist Party chief of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency, a major personnel shuffle that comes as the northern region grapples with a leadership vacuum.
Wang, 63, replaces Sun Shaocheng, who is stepping down after reaching the retirement age of 65. Both are members of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party.
