Former China Unicom Executive Gets 12 Years for Taking $3.8 Million in Bribes

A former deputy general manager of state-owned telecom giant China United Network Communications Group Co. Ltd. (China Unicom) has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for bribery, more than a year after he was placed under a graft investigation.
Cao Xingxin was found guilty of accepting over 26.75 million yuan ($3.8 million) in bribes, a court in Binzhou, East China’s Shandong province, announced Monday. He was also fined 2 million yuan, and all his illicit gains will be confiscated.
