Chinese Musician-Turned-Official Faces Bribery, Embezzlement Charges

A musician-turned-politician who served as a vice chairman of one of China’s minor political parties has been expelled from public office for bribery and embezzlement, the country’s top graft watchdog said.
Liu Kuanren faced a range of allegations, including misappropriating public funds and accepting bribes in exchange for using his influence over personnel appointments and business affairs, according to a Monday statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
