The former political commissar of the Yunnan Forest Fire Corps has been placed under investigation, marking the latest downfall in a widening corruption probe sweeping China’s firefighting sector.
Zhang Fuyan is suspected of “serious violations of discipline and law,” a common euphemism for corruption, according to a statement released late Nov. 25 by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI). He is currently being investigated by the discipline inspection group stationed at the Ministry of Emergency Management and the supervisory committee of Yunnan province.
