China’s top anticorruption watchdog has placed a senior official from the powerful Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps under investigation, signaling that Beijing’s decade-long purity drive remains aggressive as 2026 begins.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said Thursday it is probing Li Xu, a deputy commander and standing committee member of the XPCC, for “serious violations of discipline and law” — a standard euphemism for corruption.
