An explosion at a state-owned steel facility in northern China killed six people and left four others missing, according to state media reports on Monday, the latest in a string of industrial accidents afflicting the country’s heavy-manufacturing sector.
The blast occurred Sunday afternoon at a rare-earth steel plate factory in Baotou, a city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. Authorities said 84 people were injured and remain hospitalized as of Monday afternoon.
