Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday significantly broadened the state’s ban on Chinese technology by adding 26 entities to a list of prohibited vendors for state agencies and employees. The move brings the total number of blacklisted Chinese firms to 50 as Texas intensifies efforts to purge its networks of perceived national security threats.

The updated roster now includes a broad spectrum of Chinese tech firms, from emerging artificial intelligence players to household names in e-commerce and electronics. Among the newly barred entities are generative AI startups MiniMax, Zhipu AI, Moonshot AI, StepFun, and Baichuan Intelligent Technology. Established computer vision companies SenseTime, Megvii, CloudWalk Technology, and Yitu Technology also made the list.
