Beijing Designates ‘Benchmark’ Schools to Lead AI Integration in Education

China’s capital has identified 50 schools to serve as testing grounds for the integration of artificial intelligence into the education system, a move designed to accelerate the use of generative AI in classrooms and entrench the technology in the development of the country’s future workforce.
The Beijing Municipal Education Commission recently released its first list of “benchmark schools” for AI application scenarios. The roster includes eight universities and 42 primary and secondary schools spread across 16 districts, including the tech-heavy Haidian district and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.
