Yuan Hits Near Three-Year High

China’s yuan strengthened past 6.87 per dollar Wednesday, its strongest level in nearly three years, as improved trade sentiment and heavy foreign-exchange sales by exporters supported the currency.
The onshore yuan closed at 6.8672, up 177 pips from the previous session. The central bank set the daily reference rate at 6.9321, 93 pips firmer than the prior fixing.
