China Charges Former Traditional Medicine Head Over Drug Approval Graft

China’s sweeping anti-corruption campaign in the healthcare sector has ensnared the former head of the country’s traditional medicine regulatory body, who has been indicted on bribery charges.
The Supreme People’s Procuratorate announced Friday that the National Commission of Supervision has concluded its investigation into Yu Wenming, former director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yu has been formally arrested and the case has been transferred to prosecutors in the northern municipality of Tianjin, who have filed an indictment with the Tianjin No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court.
